When a relationship between parents breaks down, the first thoughts are usually for the children. Vital questions such as where they’ll live, who’ll look after them, who’ll pay for their upbringing and who they’ll have contact with all have to be answered as quickly as possible. Then there are the child’s own views. They may wish to appoint their own solicitor and many - even those under 12 - do.
